hey bro you know what last week i got a call from my boss asking to take some pictures. Because during my inteview i said my hobby is photography. Well and i said ok then the even was Zouk Out 2009 In Sentosa Singapore. Well i NEVER shot at a night club before. I do have some experience but I’am not a photographer. I’am really stress and dont know what to do. I check your videos and you really gave me a great tips. i wanna thank you! Do check my video i’ve already upload the pic. Thanks!
Nice tut… but a stofen (that $20 piece of plastic) does NOT diffuse the light. It hits the stofen and goes in all directions. It’s still hard light. You want softer light you’ll have to use some sort of speedlight softbox.
Can i have it since you don’t use it anymore
nice
No light or crowded, need wide angle lens, 15mm get all of them in frame, cameralight is predictbale, no fun light, not predictbale light in bars, need a flash, hard light not too hapy with, whote bouncwe card,
good stuff
what can I say I use a lot of different settings depending on how much light and background I want to use on the main subject.
glamour photography is retouched, you should know that…its not gonna come out like that in your camera, some glamour photographer use some basic camera and work on their pics later, i think you should watch some photography makeover..
lol noise is ok at some point, some photographer even use it to improve their photos sometimes..because your indoor it will be easier with iso 400 or 800 and youll get noise only if you didnt expose properly or doing some heavy tweaking on photoshop..no dont worry the 17-40 is a L serie designed for pro so its suposed to be better but the more important is your maximum aperture coz u shooting at night, so if u can have f/2,8 or less thats be easier for u, better focusing and faster shutter speed
i keep the iso at 100 cos it saves me worrying about noise later.. im really anal about that haha.
your right i was wrong about the flash, i meant 1/8 or even 1/16 depending on where my flash(wireless) is and where its pointing.
im using my kit 18-55. is the 17-40 much different?
do you diffuse your flash?
iso at 100??
I wish i could but it depends if they keep the light on in the club…
1/4 is too hard when you work in a nightclub, only if you wanna be blind…
I work for nightclub and i usually set my cam at 1/13th at f/4 and flash power more or less 1/8 depending how far you are from the subject…and you can always screen it (the blend mode name on photoshop) later if its too dark…ps: the 17-40 is the best lens for club, often people want a full body and you dont always have enough space

ahh you should set the iso at 100, lower the better.
white balance should be set to flash, otherwise you get that lame whitewash.
shoot at 1/4 of flash power, usually good enough
go for portrait setting for the tones
and also dont forget to shoot in raw.. that way you can adjust the exposure later.
one thing i also do is to add a touch of magenta into the camera setings, only a very little bit. trust me it does wonders.
does this help?
your joking right?
Stupid oblivious Canon fanboy
1 second shutter speed? damn.
Make a video innit!
dont forget your iso
your white balance
your settings on flash
your tone settings
theres a lot he forgets that is throwing u off
Hey man…
I’m bout to start taking pictures for a night club in 2 days. But it will have my set-up in the corner taking pictures and printing them out and selling them. What type of lighting do you recomend? I have a Nikon D40X. I really want to know if I can use heat lights instead of strobe flashes.
the brand doesnt matter, but a rebel is definitely not as good a 10d,so it is for sure an upgrade, plus pentax have some of the sharpest results ive ever seen.
well spotgreen, codiac2600 doesn’t have to worry about those god forsaken “error 99″ messages, he has body based image stabilisation in his camera which makes every lens stabilised, thus not having to spend rip off prices for a stabilised lens, he has real weather sealing, which only the higher priced Canon’s have. Plus he gets to use Pentax lenses, so yeah it’s a real upgrade.
how can changing from a Canon to a Pentax be called an “upgrade”?
What lense are you using? Size?
how do you prevent your lens getting steamed up?
Because my lens got steamed up before I even took one shot!
your link for your photos just goes to some lens retailer
Good stuff – I’ll pass this along to all my newsletter subscribers.
