Thank you for all tutorial.
Portraits will always look better using a longer focal length. 150 to 200 mm is always good. If you are restricted for room and cannot get back far enough shooting at about 70 mm would be fine. I have actually stood outside a door and shot into the room because it was so small. The other point about using short lenses is if you are too close it will distort the subject and would not be flattering.
@alamidgene i have the sx10is too. what i do is move back a bit, zoom in at around 55mm-180mm, then either go to macro mode or manual focus to get that blurry background. Of course, that only works outside or enough light since the speed goes down to 1 second or 3 seconds without a flash (and an f/4.0+). If you plan on doing portraits indoors, buy a flash, preferably one that can be triggered wireless so it can get close to your subject
I have a canon sx10is. its not interchangeable lens but the specs said that the lens is equivalent to 28-560. Can i also get a good portraits photo out of this camera by moving away backward and zoom in until I passed the 70 up to 200mm..?
whats about 50mm f/1.2L? Thats my favorit lens!
You’ve done it again, because you know your wrong, you’ve changed the subject. go on then…..tell me how I have been ignorant?
is that ignorant you mean?
and If I were, which I’m not, how so?
LOL… you’re so Ignorance
so, you know your wrong and so change the subject. 1-0.
On crack… weeds…
what? wtf? look at your room? what you on?
to what?
Make money from what? If you make money, then you probably get a good cam… look at your room… looks like a poor teenager room.. That means grow up.
Nothing is wrong with 50mm, it’s just that you didn’t pay attention…
it is, let me know when you find one.
and just for the sake of it, lets get serious, what is wrong with my comment? 50mm is a perfectly good portrait lens.
dude, kit don’t cost much when u make the money I do.
By looking at yours channel, you look like a poor kid… you probably won’t afford any equipment. So, stay home and play successful photographer.
Wow successful photographer and how do I loose on that one…
A successful photographer who doesn’t know a shit is amazing…
also, Have you even heard of ‘Magnum Photos’? best photographers in the world using 35mm 50mm lenses. best portaits ever.
no, I’m a photographer, and a successful one. so you loose.
You’re an idiot… if you don’t understand photography shut the fuck up and listen…
My favourite is the Tamron 18-270 for my canon. I absolutely love it as a general purpose lens.
50mm and 18mm are very different, using 18mm to demonstrate distortion is stupid as 50mm and up would be a portrait lens with limited distortion. you would have to look for distortion to notice it.
He’s only using an 18mm lens to exaggerate distortion with a wide angle. Pay attention.
