Our shots with our family during happy times and taken when we least expect it are the best pictures that we have. And we have a lot of them already since we can all take with our camera phones and digital cameras these days. But we require something more official this time to show the next generation. perhaps it is time that we have a professionally taken family photograph.
As much as it will benefit as, a family portrait is also for the next generation. It is the ultimate family tribute that will inform the children of our children their family history. It celebrates our milestones as family with every member born and every candle added on our birthday cake. And moreover, it’s tradition. We may have a lot of snap shot photos of our family, but family photographs need a more professional treatment.
With every typical family, kids are always present. As kids are seemingly incapable of sitting still even for a few minutes, the photo shoot is almost certain to take long. Bribe them into behaving by having candies or toys. Make them comfortable as much as possible, which also goes for the senior members of the family. The warmth from the photographer’s lights or sunlight, if the picture shoot takes place al fresco, can wear them down. Bring their medicines as a precautionary measure and allot a room or shade area for them to relax.
You can have an al fresco picture or you can take it indoors. Talk about where you would like to take it with your family. Go for the most prevalent suggestion. Vote on the options if you must so everyone will feel involved. Just avoid taking it with a renowned landmark as backgrounds because the emphasis of the picture will divert to the backdrop. Traditional family portraits are usually very formal, though you could make it fun and do a theme such as all-red motif or mafia-themed shot where everybody wears mafia-like suits and dresses. Then tell your photographer what your family decided on and let him lead the present to from then on.
Finally, accept the reality that not everybody has a perfect smile. You might expect your family to have flawless Barbie and Ken smiles, but understand that if some might smirk or others might decline to smile at all then it is just all right. You would want to show each one’s character more than to incorporate a small formality in the picture because nothing is sadder than a family photograph featuring members sporting artificial smiles.
