THE holiday season is fast approaching and people are starting to prepare their Christmas lists.
A top favorite on the wish list is a digital camera, which will allow people to capture precious moments of the joyous occasion.
With that in mind, Canon Marketing Philippines, Inc. (CMPI) recently launched seven new top-of-the-line imaging devices that would cater to the needs of consumers.
Clear view monitor
At the top of the line is the Canon EOS 60D?the highly anticipated successor of the popular EOS 50D. Though catering to the mid range market, the EOS 60D boasts of features usually found in professional-level EOS DSLR cameras.
While its looks don?t stray much from the original EOS type, the EOS 60D offers innovative technologies that include the wide Vari-Angle 3-inch ClearView LCD monitor. The monitor can be twisted and turned in almost any direction, providing the photographer the needed flexibility to take photos even at awkward angles.
It is also equipped with an 18-megapixel APS-C size CMOS sensor and a powerful DIGIC 4 image processor.
Canon also introduced a new range of Canon EF lenses, extenders, and a large capacity battery grip suitable for EOS 60D and other Canon cameras.
Also, Canon introduced six digital imaging devices targeting general consumers.
The Digital IXUS 1000 HS is a stylish compact consumer camera and is the world?s slimmest, fully-flat shooter with 10x optical zoom.
Telephoto
A notable feature of the camera is the High Sensitivity system that allows users to take photographs even in subdued light.
Two new telephoto cameras, or devices that can shoot long range subjects, are also available?the PowerShot SX130 and PowerShot SX30.
The PowerShot SX130 is equipped with a 12.1-megapixel CCD sensor and a Digic 4 processor that allows fast processing of data. Its 28mm wide-angle lens supports up to 12x optical zoom, allowing users to shoot photographs and HD movies with wide scenes or zoom in on subjects to capture more detail.
The PowerShot SX30 is Canon?s most powerful superzoom compact camera with 35x optical zoom (equivalent to a 24-840mm), making it possible for the photographer to take pictures of subjects at various distances and angles like a pro. It is also fitted with a 14.1-megapixel Charged Coupled Device sensor and a Digic 4 processor.
Prosumer devices
Canon?s celebrated prosumer line also welcomes two new members, the G12 and S95. Both now come with 720p HD Video with stereo sound and a newly improved hybrid image stabilization system.
The G12 and S95 are equipped with a 10-megapixel, 1/1.7-inch type Charge Coupled device and DIGIC 4 imaging processor, producing high quality photos even in the most challenging lighting conditions.
Both cameras are featured with new upgrades like the multiple aspect ratios, High Dynamic Range, Electronic Level, Tracking AF, and a Front Dial to allow the user more creative control.
To complement the roster of new products, Canon introduced its redesigned popular compact photo printer the SELPHY CP800.
This printer offers a number of improvements?a slimmer and more stylish build, more creative features such as Photo Collage Layout and Skin Smooth Effect, and improved usability with ID Photo layout function that automatically arranges photos in international-standard sizes. The installed software features the Shuffle Layout that enables instant collage-style printing.
These new gadgets are sure to bring on the smiles this season.
