If you’re looking for a camera that does it all, this might not be the camera for you. If you’re looking for a low budget, beginner or second camera with features and zoom in a compact size, I would definitely recommend this one, as long as you know its limitations.
To the positive. This is definitely a pocket compact: small, weighing just 5.5 oz, it slips easily into purse or pocket. It’s also a fast P&S. The focusing is extremely fast and the shutter response is quite acceptable. The printed results without editing and taken outdoors in sunlight are sharp when printed in 8.5×11 size, although the colors seem pushed a bit rather than natural. However, I didn’t find that to be unpleasing and the photo can always be toned down in a photo editing program.
Another plus is the camera shoots HD video, but a computer program like Picasa, which will show the video, shows it in very poor quality and resolution.
This camera is very much a P&S. If you’re looking for simplicity, it fits the bill. The anti-shake feature is negligent. The printed instruction manual tells you to hold the camera steady with your elbows pressed to your sides to take the picture. Not an encouragement for macro or low light, hand held photography. However, the zoom does go out to a full 10x optical with good results in bright sun. I haven’t tried it on a rainy or overcast day yet, but did try shooting in the direction of the sun with good results and no noticeable purple fringing.
Indoors with flash is acceptable. The flash distance is 1.6 feet. Any closer than that, the flash does go off, but it gets the shadow of the lens in the lower right corner.
Most of the features such as sunset, beach, snow, etc. are built into the F1 setting on the top wheel and through the menu system. The camera has face detection and flesh colors come out fairly well.
I’ve only had the camera a day. I bought it as a second camera because I wanted a 10x or better zoom in a pocket camera I could take along everywhere, including bicycle rides. For $200, this fit in my plans. I have other cameras I can use for macros and hand held night shots. This site, [...] has a more detailed review of the camera features.

I had purchased the Kodak Z915 from Target and even though the price was nice $149.99 when I got the camera home I was so disappointed with the quility of the indoor pictures I just knew I had to return it.
Thankfully Targets returns policy is AMAZING and the returned it no questions asked.
My last camera was a Fujifilm camera, it was a big bulky camera which I was happy with but really wanted a smaller camera as it broke due to carrying it around in my purse and it geting knocked around to much.
After having the Kodak for about about a week and becoming very disappointed with the picture quality I know I have to go back to Fuji film as I had always had great comments on the photos I took on my old Fujifil camera.
Anyway, I chose this camera (Fujifilm JZ300)as it was nice and compact but still had the 10x zoom (which is great for such a small camera) 12mps, which gives great crisp pics and also has the HD video (which is AMAZING btw – and I also don’t have to convert it on my PC and can put it straight on DVD……Sweet!!!)
The picture quilty is great and although indoors is never as good as outdorrs its still great and I am so happy I upgraded to this camera.
You really won’t be disappointed with this camera as it does everything you need it to and more.
I love the pictures I take, the featuresare easy to use and I like the fact you can take black and white and sepia etc.
I hope this review has helped and you enjoy the camera as much as I do.

I was expecting so much more from a Fuji! The photo quality was a huge disappointment. Outdoor photos were average. Indoor pictures were terrible..grainy, mottled, dull color and not crisp. The only setting that I could get good pictures in was the 10x zoom, or the macro! Also, good video. If you are looking for a camera that will take easy, quick snapshots on an auto setting that produces clear, crisp shots…this is NOT it! Also, the dial that you select the mode with turns very easily, and would not stay on the mode I set it on. The face recognition feature was not very effective…if the subjects have on glasses or a hat, or have long hair, it often will not work. I returned it, and replaced it with a Nikon Coolpix s8000…NO comparison! The Nikon is great…easy to use, clear crisp pictures every time!

This camera takes fantastic outdoor shots. I just returned from a family easter egg hunt with my kids and several of their cousins and the shots using the 10X zoom were great. Quick recovery time between shots and only a few out of 150 shots were out of focus. Somewhat disappointing for indoor shots using the automatic setting although I did not try the scene selection options for indoor phoytos. The flash seemed only effective 5 to 6 feet. I also own a panasonic lumix camera that I am very happy with but I wanted more zoom capability

the cover over the battery/memory card was hard to open. The second time opening it, it broke! Love the size, but broke already.

I am enjoying this camera very much. It has excellent features at this price point, with easy menus and click wheels to get at them. I particularly liked that you can use the 10x zoom when you are videoing. Suprisingly other cameras I looked at could not.
Here are a few tips. To open the bay that holds the battery and memory card, drag the door forward with your thumb (use the raised dots for a better grip) then you can lift it up. I had trouble transferring longer video clips with the USB cable; instead, put your SDHC memory card in a card reader (I used the Targus Universal 32 in 1 card reader/writer). I missed one tip that is in the manual the first time I read through it: once you press the shutter button down to start recording, you don’t need to keep holding it down.

Trying to take outdoor pictures in bright sunligth with this camera is difficult. The extreme amount of glare trying to take a photo simply by looking at the small screen is just impossible. You can’t tell what you are looking at. I miss the small “one eyed view finder” that is missing in many of there new styled cameras. I would not purchase this product if I have know this.
